Configuration guide 3CX®

1. Configuration guide

This configuration guide describes how to set up a Behnke Station as a SIP extension of a LANCOM® 1784VA router. We are assuming that the basic configuration of the LANCOM® system has already been done, and we will only describe the steps required to register the Behnke Station with the router. We also assume that the Behnke station has already been integrated into the network and can be accessed via the IP address in a browser.

1.1. Configuring the extension for the Behnke Station

Please note that the configuration of the extension is only shown very briefly and the configuration may vary for your LANCOM®. If in doubt, please contact your LANCOM® support.

  • First, call up the LANCOM® management console in your browser and log in with your admin credentials.

  • In the menu on the left, navigate to "Configuration" > "Voice Call Manager" > "Users" > "SIP Users". Click on the Add button below.

  • In the next window, fill in the "Internal number" and "Comment" fields at the top, and make sure that "Entry active" is checked. Then, in the "Authentication name" field, specify the name with which the Behnke station should register with the LANCOM® router and enter the corresponding "Password" below. Then click on the Set button.

  • Then navigate to "Configuration" > "Voice Call Manager". There you will find the "Local VoIP domain" field on the "General" tab. The value specified here is required in the next step for registering the Behnke station.

  • Set the "ID" and the corresponding "Password" and write down these credentials. These credentials and the extension are required in the next step for registering the Behnke Station with your 3CX®. Then click "OK" at the top.

1.2. Configuring the Behnke Station

  • Open a new tab in your browser, enter the IP address of the Behnke Station in the address bar and log in.

  • Click on "SIP Phone" in the menu. Scroll down to "SIP account 1" and select the option "yes" for "Register".

  • Then fill in the fields with your LANCOM® SIP credentials as follows and click "Save" on the left.

    Field Behnke Station Value LANCOM®
    Phone number/user name <extension>@<local VoIP domain>, e.g. 100@intern
    User ID Authentication name
    Password Password
Server IP address of the LANCOM® router

If the registration was successful, the "Registration state" changes to registered.

  • Then click "Buttons" in the menu on the left. For the desired call button enter the extension number or phone number that is to be called when the button is pressed. Then click "Save" on the left.

2. Trouble shooting

Please click on a problem below, in order to get an exact description and solutions.

The Behnke Station is registered with the LANCOM® router, but it's not possible to initiate a call.
Please make sure that the name of the "local VoIP domain" is entered in the "Server" field in the SIP settings of the Behnke Station. In the LANCOM® router, this is "internal" by default. If, for example, you entered the IP address of the router here instead, the SIP registration works, but no calls can be made. Therefore, please enter the same as the SIP server in the Behnke Station as in the "local VoIP domain" field in the router.
