{"wiki":"en","slug":"guide-ip-topolgy","markdown":"# Checking the Topology of a Behnke IP Intercom System\n\nThe topology shows which Behnke Stations have been detected within the IP intercom system and how they are distributed across the existing intercom groups.\n\nIt is therefore particularly suitable for checking an existing installation and for troubleshooting when a station cannot be reached as expected.\n\n<!-- block: topologie-oeffnen -->\n## 1. Open the topology\n\n%[BS_LOGIN_INFO](BS_LOGIN_INFO)%\n\n- In the sidebar on the left, click the menu item %BSM_IP_SPRECHANLAGE%\n- Navigate to the **Topology** section\n\n![Web interface menu item IP intercom, Topology section](uploads/7d7444b75ad9f8948769776387b9e0a0/grafik.png)\n\n\nThe topology contains an overview of the detected Behnke Stations of the intercom system and their assignment to the respective intercom groups.\n\n<!-- block: welche-informationen-liefert-die-topologie -->\n## 2. What information does the topology provide?\n\nThe topology can be used in particular to check:\n\n- which Behnke Stations have been detected\n- which intercom group the individual devices are assigned to\n- whether expected devices are present in the intercom system\n- whether devices have been accidentally assigned to different intercom groups\n- which network bridges exist\n- name and IP address of the detected devices\n- in the case of an indoor station: intercom ID\n\n<!-- block: gruppenzuordnung-pruefen -->\n## 3. Checking the group assignment\n\nEvery Behnke Station belongs to an intercom group.\n\nOutdoor and indoor stations of the same group can communicate directly with each other.\n\nIf, for example, an outdoor station is expected in group `1` but is shown under group `2` in the topology, the configured intercom group should be checked.\n\nFor more information, see the setup guide: [Configuring the intercom group of a Behnke Station](Guide_IP_Group).\n\n<!-- block: zu-einer-anderen-behnke-station-wechseln -->\n## 4. Switching to another Behnke Station\n\nFrom the topology, you can switch directly to the web interface of another detected Behnke Station.\n\n![Web interface menu item IP intercom, Topology section, hovering over a station](uploads/fa79dc1dc5d71670ce41ee7949bb9095/grafik.png)\n\nThis means the IP address of the desired station does not have to be entered separately in the browser.\n\nThis is particularly helpful in systems with several outdoor and indoor stations.\n\n<!-- block: fehlendes-geraet-in-der-topologie -->\n## 5. Missing device in the topology\n\nIf an expected Behnke Station is not shown in the topology, first check the basic network connection.\n\nAll devices of the IP intercom system must be able to reach each other over the IP network.\n\nIn particular, check:\n\n- is the device switched on?\n- is the network connection present?\n- is the device in the network intended for the intercom system?\n- can the device be reached by the other stations over the IP network?\n- has the device been set up completely?\n- do the devices use the required common global settings?\n- has a network bridge been set up (if several networks are connected)?\n\n> [!NOTE]\n> Newly added Behnke Stations may need a short time before they are detected and displayed within the intercom system.\n\n<!-- block: geraete-in-mehreren-netzwerken -->\n## 6. Devices in multiple networks\n\nA Behnke IP intercom system can also be operated across several IP networks.\n\nIn this case, the networks must be connected to each other via network bridges.\n\nIf devices from another network do not appear in the topology, the status of the configured network bridge should therefore also be checked.\n\n![Web interface menu item IP intercom, Network bridge section](uploads/2e7f95159f48754c8ae525f341507363/grafik.png)\n\nA network bridge can show the status:\n\n```text\nONLINE\n```\n\nor:\n\n```text\nOFFLINE\n```\n\n`ONLINE` means that a connection to the remote end of the network bridge exists.\n\n`OFFLINE` means that there is currently no connection to the remote end.\n\n> [!NOTE]\n> Setting up a multi-network intercom system is described in the setup guide **[Operating an IP intercom system across multiple networks](Guide_IP_MultipleNetworks)**.\n\n<!-- block: firmware-status-pruefen -->\n## 7. Checking the firmware status\n\nThe topology also shows the firmware status of the intercom system.\n\n![Web interface menu item IP intercom, Topology section, firmware versions](uploads/fe6ef301f39ac54551feb493a7d45543/grafik.png)\n\nA differing firmware version does not automatically mean that the topology is faulty. For operating the IP intercom system, however, it is recommended to synchronize the firmware of the devices.\n\nFor more information, see the setup guide **[Synchronizing the firmware of an IP intercom system](Guide_IP_FirmwareSync)**.\n\n<!-- block: drittanbietergeraete-ip-stationen -->\n## 8. Third-party devices (IP stations)\n\nIP stations set up manually on an indoor station are not part of the automatically detected topology of the Behnke IP intercom system.\n\nThese include, for example, integrated SIP door stations or IP cameras.\n\nThese devices are therefore not shown in the topology.\n\nFor more information, see the setup guide **[Setting up a third-party device as an IP station on a Behnke indoor station](Guide_IP_IPStation)**.\n\n<!-- block: zusammenfassung -->\n## 9. Summary\n\nThe topology is a central overview for checking the IP intercom system.\n\nIt can be used to check:\n\n- which Behnke Stations have been detected\n- which intercom group the devices belong to\n- whether expected devices are missing\n- whether the group assignment is plausible\n- whether network bridges are online or offline\n- whether the firmware of the detected devices is synchronized\n- and to switch directly to the web interface of another Behnke Station\n\n<!-- block: faq -->\n## 10.
