{"wiki":"en","slug":"guide-ip-multiplegroups","markdown":"# Using Multiple Intercom Groups\n\nA Behnke IP intercom system can be divided into up to `9` intercom groups.\n\nWith multiple groups, different areas of a system can be logically separated from each other. For example, a main entrance can be assigned to a different intercom group than a delivery area or a parking lot.\n\n> [!NOTE]\n> Multiple intercom groups are not the same as multiple IP networks.\n>\n> The division into groups takes place within the IP intercom system. A system distributed across several networks additionally requires network bridges.\n\n<!-- block: beispiel-mit-zwei-sprechanlagengruppen -->\n## 1. Example with Two Intercom Groups\n\nA system consists of:\n\n```text\nSprechanlagengruppe 1\n├── Außenstation Eingang\n└── Innenstation Empfang\n\nSprechanlagengruppe 2\n├── Außenstation Parkplatz\n└── Innenstation Anlieferung\n```\n\nThe door station `Eingang` and the indoor station `Empfang` belong to group `1`.\n\nThe door station `Parkplatz` and the indoor station `Anlieferung` belong to group `2`.\n\nWithin each group, the normal intercom logic can be used.\n\n<!-- block: geraete-den-gruppen-zuordnen -->\n## 2. Assigning Devices to Groups\n\nEach Behnke Station belongs to exactly one intercom group.\n\nThe values `1` to `9` are available for the intercom group.\n\nThe following assignment is used for the example:\n\n```text\nAußenstation Eingang → Gruppe 1\nInnenstation Empfang → Gruppe 1\n\nAußenstation Parkplatz → Gruppe 2\nInnenstation Anlieferung → Gruppe 2\n```\n\nFor more information on this setting, see the setup guide **[Configuring the Intercom Group of a Behnke Station](Guide_IP_Group)**.\n\n<!-- block: sprechanlagen-id-innerhalb-einer-gruppe -->\n## 3. Intercom ID Within a Group\n\nIndoor stations also have an intercom ID between `1` and `99`.\n\nWithin the same intercom group, the ID is sufficient as the call number.\n\nExample:\n\n```text\nGruppe: 1\nID: 1\n\nRufnummer innerhalb der Gruppe: 1\n```\n\nThis allows the door station `Eingang` to reach the indoor station `Empfang` using the call number `1`.\n\nThe same ID can also be used in another intercom group.\n\nExample:\n\n```text\nGruppe 1 → Innenstation Empfang → ID 1\nGruppe 2 → Innenstation Anlieferung → ID 1\n```\n\nThe group membership determines which indoor station is reached when the call number `1` is simply dialed.\n\n<!-- block: innenstation-einer-anderen-gruppe-anrufen -->\n## 4. Calling an Indoor Station in Another Group\n\nTo call an indoor station in another intercom group, the target group must be specified in addition to the ID.\n\nA three-digit call number is used for this:\n\n```text\n[Gruppe][zweistellige ID]\n```\n\nExample:\n\n```text\nZielgruppe: 2\nZiel-ID: 1\n\nRufnummer: 201\n```\n\nThe call number `201` thus addresses the indoor station or stations with ID `1` in intercom group `2`.\n\n> [!IMPORTANT]\n> In a cross-group call number, the ID is always treated as two digits.\n>\n> Group `2` and ID `1` therefore result in `201`. \n>\n> Group `3` and ID `10` therefore result in `310`.\n> \n> Single-digit intercom IDs become two-digit IDs accordingly, e.g.: `1` => `01`.\n\n\n<!-- block: ruftaste-einer-innenstation-in-einer-anderen-gru -->\n## 5. Assigning a Call Button to an Indoor Station in Another Group\n\nA call button can be specifically assigned to an indoor station in another intercom group.\n\n- To do so, open the configuration of the desired door station\n\n%[BS_LOGIN_INFO](BS_LOGIN_INFO)%\n\n- In the sidebar on the left, click the menu item %BSM_TASTEN%\n- Navigate to the section of the corresponding button (e.g. **Button 1**)\n- Set the value of the **Call number** option to the three-digit target call number\n\nExample:\n\n```text\nTaste: 1\nRufnummer: 201\n```\n\n![Web interface menu item Buttons, section Button 1](uploads/3ec0a995a7ac19475ad64f19a1c669e4/grafik.png)\n\nThe call button then calls the indoor station with ID `1` in group `2`.\n\nFor more information on button configuration, see the setup guide **[Assigning the Call Buttons of a Door Station to Indoor Stations](Guide_IP_Buttons)**.\n\n<!-- block: anrufkette-ueber-mehrere-gruppen -->\n## 6. Call Chain Across Multiple Groups\n\nIt is also possible to use targets from different intercom groups in a call chain.\n\nA typical use case:\n\n1. First, the indoor station `Empfang` in the same group should be called.\n2. If the call is not answered there, the indoor station `Anlieferung` in group `2` should be called next.\n\nThe following applies to the example:\n\n```text\nEmpfang:\nGruppe 1\nID 1\nRufnummer innerhalb der eigenen Gruppe: 1\n\nAnlieferung:\nGruppe 2\nID 1\ngruppenübergreifende Rufnummer: 201\n```\n\nThe call chain is therefore:\n\n```text\n1;201\n```\n\n![Web interface menu item Buttons, section Button 1, action Call](uploads/e1cf8448817d70386006acb025f48282/grafik.png)\n\nor\n\n![Web interface menu item Buttons, section Button 1, action Call chain](uploads/2fdda5487ea5cc3d399eb142ddb56034/grafik.png)\n\nThe door station first tries the call number `1` and then the call number `201`.\n\n<!-- block: auswirkungen-auf-das-telefonbuch -->\n## 7. Effects on the Phone Book\n\nThrough an individual assignment, a door station can also become relevant for an indoor station in another intercom group.\n\nIn the example from the manual, the door station `Eingang` is additionally assigned to the indoor station `Anlieferung` via the call chain `1;201`.\n\nAs a result, the door station is also displayed in the phone book of this indoor station and can be used there for functions such as preview, call, and door opening.\n\n<!-- block: globale-einstellungen -->\n## 8. Global Settings\n\n> [!IMPORTANT]\n> Even if the intercom system is divided into multiple groups, the devices still belong to the same Behnke IP intercom system.\n\n<!-- block: aufteilung-in-der-topologie-pruefen -->\n## 9. Checking the Division in the Topology\n\nThe web interface shows the topology of the entire intercom system in the `IP intercom system` area.\n\nThere you can check which intercom group the detected Behnke Stations are assigned to.\n\n![Web interface menu item IP intercom system, section Topology, 2 groups](uploads/1fcdfa751fc6bef2f2d44ea3d00fb5e1/grafik.png)\n\nWith multiple groups, this overview is particularly helpful for quickly spotting accidental group assignments.\n\nFor more information, see the setup guide **[Checking the Topology of an IP Intercom System](Guide_IP_Topolgy)**.\n\n<!-- block: zusammenfassung -->\n## 10. Summary\n\nWhen using multiple intercom groups, the following rules apply in particular:\n\n- a Behnke IP intercom system can contain up to `9` intercom groups\n- each Behnke Station belongs to one group\n- indoor stations also have an ID between `1` and `99`\n- within the same group, the ID is sufficient as the call number\n- for an indoor station in another group, a three-digit call number made up of the group and the two-digit ID is used\n- for example, group `2` and ID `1` result in the call number `201`\n- cross-group call numbers can also be used for call buttons and call chains\n- a call chain via group `1`/ID `1` and group `2`/ID `1` can be configured as `1;201`, for example\n- the topology shows the distribution of devices across the intercom groups\n\n<!-- block: faq -->\n## 11.
