{"wiki":"en","slug":"guide-general-changeoperationmode","markdown":"# Configuring the Operating Mode of the Behnke Station\n\nThis setup guide describes how to configure the operating mode of the Behnke Station.\n\nDepending on the deployment scenario, the Behnke Station can be operated in different operating modes. The available operating modes are analog telephone, SIP telephone and IP intercom system. As an analog telephone, the station is operated on an analog telephone line; as a SIP telephone, it is registered as a SIP user on an IP telephone system or used for direct SIP connections to other SIP endpoints. For this purpose, the station can be registered with a SIP-capable telephone system or a SIP server.\n\nAlternatively, direct communication with other SIP-capable endpoints is also possible via direct SIP calls, provided that no central telephone system is to be used.\n\n#### Analog Telephone\nIn the analog telephone operating mode, the Behnke Station is operated on an analog telephone line or on an analog extension port of a telephone system.\n\n> [!NOTE]\n> This operating mode depends on the hardware and is therefore not available for all variants of the Behnke Station. Whether analog operation is supported depends on the hardware version used.\n\n#### IP Intercom System\nIn the IP intercom system operating mode, the Behnke Station is operated as part of an IP-based intercom system. The station communicates over the IP network with other devices or components of the system.\n\nThis operating mode is intended in particular for applications in which the Behnke Station is used within a networked intercom infrastructure.\n\n<!-- block: speichern-der-betriebsart -->\n### 1.2 Saving the Operating Mode\n\n- Set the option **Operating mode** to the desired value\n- Click %BS_MENU_SPEICHERN_ROT% to save the configuration\n- The device may restart\n\n<!-- block: konfiguration-des-hybridmodus -->\n### 2. Configuring Hybrid Mode\n\nIf necessary, the Behnke Station can be operated in what is known as hybrid mode. Hybrid mode allows the other operating modes to be available in addition to the main operating mode.
